The Wine
The rise of English sparkling in the last 10 years has been phenomenal. Leading the field has been the Laithwaite family – first Barbara Laithwaite with Wyfold, then her son, Henry, at Harrow & Hope. Both have a great track record of awards since the start. She planted her first vines in 2003 and now has two hectares. A decade later, her first release, the 2009, won a Trophy. Since then, both the Brut and the Rosé have clocked up many more awards, including two more Trophies and 19 Golds. Tirelessly tending to her vines, with help from friends and family, she sends her grapes to Henry's award-winning Marlow winery for crafting into this fine bubbly. Using classic Champagne varieties and method, he does his mum proud. Time for celebration.
