The Wine
Without doubt, Taittinger Blanc de Blancs is one of the finest Champagnes that money can buy. Only made in excellent vintages, this 2008 comes with unanimous praise from the major critics. James Suckling scored it a perfect 100pts, which is backed by Jancis Robinson's near perfect 19 and 98+ from Antonio Galloni. With fruit sources from five Grand Cru villages, only the first pressing was used to extract the best from the Chardonnay grapes. A 5% addition of the prestige cuvée, fermented in oak barrels, brings even greater complexity. Disgorgement took place in July 2019 after its 12 years maturing on lees. "It's a truly brilliant Champagne that no one who loves the very best in Champagne will want to be without" says Antonio Galloni.
