Sandhills Marlborough Pinot Noir 2020
Top of South Island, Marlborough is world famous for its passion fruit-fresh Sauvignon Blanc. However, their delicate, mid-weight Pinot Noirs are equally ravishing. A red brimful of strawberry, raspberry and cherry, with a leafy fresh edge.

The Wine
For a silky, mid-weight red, it's hard to beat the appeal of New Zealand Pinot Noir from Marlborough. They have a delicious freshness too, thanks warm, sunny days with cooling, coastal breezes. This 2020 is from winemaker Matt Murphy, who selected the grapes from various vineyards around the Marlborough region. That way he ensured the optimum balance of ripe fruit, depth and grippy minerality, as well as good intensity from low yields. Ageing for six months in barrel lends gentle spice notes to the red fruit. Drinking perfectly now, the wine is a top match for roast chicken, sauced white meats or a mushroom risotto. Serve cellar cool.
