The Wine
The Princess is a most elegant red and slips down with velvety ease. It’s a classic Rhône blend, Grenache, Mataro (aka Mourvèdre) and Shiraz made at the leading green-focused RedHeads winery in the Barossa. The team have developed an extensive network of grower contacts from whom they source the very best grapes. The fruit for this wine came from the Barossa and nearby: Grenache from 65-year-old bush vines in Tanunda (that’s the pure raspberry notes); Mataro (known in Europe as Mourvèdre) from red, iron rich soils in cooler climate Ebenezer; and Shiraz from the renowned Kalleske estate in Koonunga (black fruit and mocha). It’s a very appealing red on its own and top choice with risotto or pork.
