Nyetimber Classic Cuvée NV

The Nyetimber estate in Sussex can boast plenty of noble history. There’s mention of it in the Domesday Book in 1086, and Nyetimber was home to Anne of Cleves, fourth wife of Henry VIII. Centuries later, Nyetimber wowed the world after planting Champagne’s trio of vine varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – in 1988 and showing they could ripen in England’s cool climate. At a blind tasting in 1997, the 1992 vintage stunned judges, who assumed it came from Champagne. Since then Nyetimber has won many rave reviews and prizes. All their wines are produced from the 170 hectare estate, owned by Eric Heerema, with Cherie Spriggs as winemaker since 2007. In 2016 Nyetimber was honoured with IWSC’s ‘English Wine Producer of the Year’.
