M de Médoc 2018

It's a treat to find a Médoc from the 2018 vintage – a hot year, that produced wines with richness, ripeness and depth, and excellent structure too. There is much praise for the vintage: critic James Suckling wrote, "2018 is a top vintage. The plush fruit and ripe tannins make so many of the wines attractive to drink young but they have the structure to age for a long time". This is a fine, classic Médoc, from an outstanding winemaker, who has worked for many of the top properties in the Haut-Médoc. The wine beautifully expresses the terroir of the region. With dense cassis and blueberry with cedar spice and four years' maturity, this Bordeaux is showing very well. Preferably decant an hour beforehand and serve with roast meats.
