The Beer
Lervig Aktiebryggeri is a seriously impressive – and achingly cool – craft ale brewery in Stravanger in Norway. They’re rated in the world’s Top 100 Breweries, according to RateBeer, the TripAdvisor of craft ales. Lervig’s international team is headed up by their American chief brewer, Mike Murphy. Mike started making craft ales at the tender age of 19 because he was too young to buy beer for himself. He moved to Europe to live with his Italian girlfriend and set up his own brewery because at that time nobody was making the hoppy craft ales Mike loved back home. He was poached by Lervig in 2010 and Lucky Jack, made with Perle, Citra, Amarillo and Chinook hops, was his first Norwegian beer. Try it with burgers topped with blue cheese.
