Delicate hued rosé (hence gris), a classic of southern France. And utterly moreish with its gentle berry, floral and herbal notes. It’s from a family owned estate in the Languedoc’s cru Saint Chinian that’s blazing a trail with award winning wines.

The Wine
Provence is renowned for its fancy, onion skin rosés, but just to the west, away from the glitterati and superstars, the Languedoc produces a similar style of elegance and berry scented charm. Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril own the beautiful Château de Ciffre, tucked away in the rocky Languedoc hills. Since its purchase in 2007, they have devoted their lives to upgrading the château and vineyards. Their scented hillsides are strewn with vineyards and ‘garrigue’, the natural olive, pine and wild herb flora that can’t help but lend wines their own special wildness. It lies close to the medieval walled city of Carcassonne and is a fresh, modern interpretation of classic southern France. Utterly delicious on its own and versatile with food.
