Laithwaites Theale Vineyard Founder's Reserve Blanc de Blancs 2015
English Quality Sparkling Wine
Loading...
This toasty, complex, well aged vintage fizz is something of a collector’s item. That’s because the little Berkshire vineyard it came from is no more. It's pure Chardonnay, made by the Champagne method, with ripe fruit and toasty brioche length.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
The tiny Berkshire vineyard this came from didn’t look quite like the vine clad hills and valleys of Champagne. Just 704 Chardonnay vines on a little slope next to an office (full of wine mad staff). But it produced wonderful fruit that was picked by hand every September and driven over to Ridgeview in double quick time. This Sussex winery, that specialises in sparkling wine, was founded by the late, great Mike Roberts (England’s very own ‘King of Fizz’). No surprise then that they turned top quality 2015 grapes into a sparkling wine of incredible depth and finesse. The first vintage fizz from this vineyard won a place in the world’s Top 10 bubblies. Founders Reserve Blanc de Blancs 2015 is another very fine release – and very rare indeed.

I’m a proud Frenchman, but it’s true! This English bubbly is up there with good vintage Champagne
