The Spirit
Founded in 1842, Glenmorangie distillery is famous for its elegant Highland single malts, and Tale of the Forest is a beautifully expressive addition to their portfolio. Some years ago, while strolling through the woods near his house, Glenmorangie’s Master Distiller - Dr Bill Lunsden – was inspired to bring back an old method used by ancient Highland whisky makers. It was the kilning of barley with all kinds of forest fuel. Dr Lundsen began experimenting with a variety of botanicals, finally selecting juniper berries, birch bark and heather flowers. They resulted in a spirit with rare aromas of pine, juniper and a wisp of smoke. Then aged in ex-bourbon casks to add soft notes of vanilla spice, while letting the forest flavours shine.
