The Spirit
As every whisky aficionado will know, whisky gains much of its flavour, character and colour from the cask in which it’s aged. So for the Orchard Experiment – the fourth in the Glenfiddich Experimental Series – Glenfiddich distillery’s Malt Master Brian Kinsman finished the whisky in casks formerly used to age Pomona, a blend of apple brandy and juice created by the apple specialists, the Temperly family in Somerset. On a visit there, Brian had been inspired and wanted to conjure up the aromas of the orchards in his next Experimental for Glenfiddich. This is a delicious, intriguing whisky with hints of apple blossom and fruit blending seamlessly with the sweet malt and soft oak notes of the whisky. Serve neat, over ice or as in a cocktail.
