The Spirit
The Frapin family have been established in Segonzac, South West France, since 1270. Initially they were wine growers but for the last 20 generations they’ve been distillers, too. Their most famous family member is François Rabelais, the writer. The family’s 200 hectares of vines are in Grande Champagne, the official Premier Cru de Cognac. It’s so called because the chalky soil is identical to that found in Reims. Cognac gains its signature warm colour and aromas through ageing in new and old Limousin oak casks. Further character develops by keeping the casks in humid conditions. Frapin recommend leaving your carafe of VSOP in the freezer. Presented in an elegant carafe, with two glasses, this is a superb cognac for any fine brandy lover.
