This is a glorious, rich, layered white Burgundy that doesn't cost the earth. It comes from the Mâconnais's prized Viré Clessé appellation and Winemaker of the Year for both red and white, Alain Serveau. Lovely rounded peachy fruit with minerality.

The Wine
Domaine Lupé Cholet was founded in 1903 by Alexandre de Mayol de Lupé and Félix de Cholet. The wines today, under the guidance of the renowned house of Albert Bichot, go from strength to strength. They have 25 hectares of vineyards in Chablis and the Côte d'Or, and work closely with a handful of long standing growers for the rest of their requirements. Since they joined forces with Albert Bichot, they've had the expertise of Alain Serveau guiding the production of their wines. This is an appealing white from one of Mâcon's top subregions – Viré Clessé. The grapes are grown on limestone slopes, handpicked and fermented in stainless steel. Eight months ageing on lees lends a lovely creamy roundness to the bright fruit and mineral finesse.
