Cockburn's Vintage Port 2017
Douro DOC
Loading...
Magnificent 98-point Cockburn from a stand out vintage, the third in a row for this port house. 2017 produced "rich, intense, powerful fruit-driven wines" (Richard Mayson) and this is knockout with "insane aromas" (Suckling), full body and structure.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Cockburns is one of the finest names in port. The house was founded in 1815 by two Scottish brothers – Robert and John Cockburn – successful wine merchants in Leith. Port was very popular among their customers, so they decided to open a branch in the Douro. Many families have joined the original Cockburns along the way, until 2006, when the renowned Symingtons brought it under a single family ownership once more. Over the last two centuries, Cockburn's has enjoyed one of the finest reputations and early in the 20th century, its ports fetched the highest prices at auction. Judging by the 98 for this 2017, this house is still very much on form. Using grapes mostly from their main estate, Quinta dos Canais, this is a port to cellar.
