Enjoy the subtle red berry fruit in this remarkably well-priced claret that’s at its peak after 12 years of ageing. Crafted at a historic estate in the superior Premières Côtes, it’s elegant and complex … everything a traditional claret should be.

The Wine
Château de Birot is a renowned 17th century estate, whose vineyards enjoy a privileged location high on a plateau on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, overlooking the famed vineyards of Sauternes. Until recently, it was owned by the Castéja family, former owners of top Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Château Canon. This vintage showcases their expertise in crafting top wines. A delicious blend of succulent Merlot with a dash of Cabernet, it’s from the superior Premières Côtes vineyards and benefits from 12 years’ maturity. Silky, mellow and complex … this is traditional, elegant claret as it should be. Expect dried blackberry, damson and plum flavours, with leafy, earthy tones. Decent before serving to fully appreciate its depth and finesse.
