Corbières AOC

Since 1999 this fine property has been in the hands of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), makers of some of the finest Bordeaux wines. Much renovation and analysis ensued and this impressive Grand Vin is the result: dark spicy fruit, real depth.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
Château Lafite Rothschild is “Bordeaux’s most famous property, synonymous with wealth, prestige and remarkable clarets” (Robert Parker). The owners have also invested in a handful of estates from outside Bordeaux and polished them into world beaters worthy of the Lafite Rothschild name. In 1999 Baron Eric de Rothschild discovered Domaine d’Aussières in Corbières. He had the soils analysed, recognised the estate’s potential, and bought it. Vines were replanted, the cellar renovated – all aspects were seen to. This is their Grand Vin – nearly half Syrah, the grape that performs best there, with finest Mourvèdre, Grenache and Carignan – 40% barrel aged. It shows just how good wines from the Languedoc can be. A fine partner to rich meat dishes.
