Luscious, Merlot dominated Bordeaux red from the Right Bank region of Vignonet, between Saint Emilion and Castillon. The grapes reached superb ripeness in the hot summer of 2018, hence its 14.5%. Velvety smooth, with generous ripe, creamy plum fruit.

The Wine
Critic James Suckling was full of praise for Bordeaux's 2018 vintage: "an exceptional year," "wonderful wines with a beautiful depth of ripe fruit and polished, strong tannins." In the early stages, however, it was a difficult vintage, but hot sunny weather from June until post harvest remedied that, hence the ecstatic praise from critics. You'll taste the richness and depth in this fabulous Right Bank claret. It's from a small estate, family owned for three generations. Their 15 hectares of vines are planted with predominantly Merlot, plus Malbec and both Cabernets. All fruit, with no oak ageing, this wine has lovely ripeness and freshness, despite the summer heat. Open early, decant and enjoy with boeuf bourguignon or an aubergine bake.
