The Wine
Founded in 1849, Pol Roger is one of Champagne’s finest houses. It is known for the great style and finesse of its wines, particularly for the Vintage Brut and the Cuve´e Winston Churchill. Churchill was a great ambassador for the brand, and one of its most loyal customers. He even named one of his racehorses after Odette Pol-Roger, wife of the firm’s head at that time! 2008 was an exceptional vintage. Although showing well now, this wine will reward an extra year or two’s ageing. Its grapes were selected from 20 Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and the Co^te des Blancs, and the wine was aged 8 years in the cellar before being hand riddled and disgorged. Enjoy at special celebrations, by itself or with fancy canapés.

Hint of marzipan. Creamy texture, a little bruised apple acidity. Admirably long. Really exciting
