The Wine
Established in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, Deutz was a founding member of Champagne's prestigious Grandes Marques. The house remains today one of the most revered in the appellation. With over 100 hectares of their own vineyards, all in the finest crus of the region, they use nearly all estate grown grapes, unusual in Champagne. Named in honour of the founder, this vintage Champagne is rich, long with superb finesse, being made from only the free run juice and first pressing. In cool cellars 25 metres below ground, it matures on lees for 10 years adding layers of complexity to the fruit. The 2008 stands out for its energy and sophisticated flavours, "one of the greatest Deutz cuvées of the modern era" (Stelzer).

This is incredibly long and beautiful. It’s full-bodied, but comes across with so much finesse
