Cœur de Granit Moulin-à-Vent 2019
A fine, supple red from Beaujolais's best-loved cru – Moulin à Vent. The grapes are selected from the oldest vines grown on classic granite soils. The result in this excellent vintage: ample, velvety black berry fruit with a savoury tobacco finish.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Taking its name from the ancient mill that sits prominently on one of its hills, Moulin à Vent is known as the 'king of Beaujolais'. The most velvety and voluptuous of crus and the most ageworthy, its wines can have a gorgeous Burgundy-like richness. It's one of the most easterly villages and boasts crumbly pink granite soils, with seams of manganese. These make for luscious, velvety reds with the grip for potential cellaring. This mature fruit-filled red is made at the Cave du Château de Chénas in a year that saw yields drop due to spring frosts, but the quality of the wines makes them "good buys" (Decanter). Whole grape fermented for maximum fruit and aged in barrel, this red is delicious now. Serve with panfried duck, ham or soft cheese.
