The Wine
Bored with the ‘savalanche’ of Sauvignon Blanc coming from Marlborough? Then you should try this crisp, tropical white from the team at Buronga Hill winery on the banks of the might Murray River. It’s an impressive winery run by the young, energetic winemaker Thomas Jung. Thomas was born in Germany, but his parents moved to Australia in 1982. His father was good mates with the late, great Len Evans – a leading figure in the Australian wine industry. It was Len who persuaded Thomas to apply for a Rothbury Estate wine scholarship. Thomas caught the wine bug, applied to study winemaking at the famous Roseworthy College and has never looked back. Enjoy Thomas’ Sauvignon on its own or with jumbo prawns, avocado salad or fried whitebait.
