Almaviva 2019
Almaviva is "one of the New World's greatest reds". No surprise perhaps when it's from Bordeaux's top name, the Rothschild family, who invested in Chile in the 1990s. From the very good 2019 vintage, it's full-bodied, powerful, rich and spiced.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
In 1997, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (of Mouton Rothschild fame) and Concha y Toro set about creating a Grand Cru Classé of Chile. They called it Almaviva. Their debut release in 1998 was a spectacular hit, and it gets better each year. Almaviva is classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Carmenère, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. It's a perfect fusion of the two cultures – Chile offers its soils, climate and its vineyards, while France contributes its winemaking flare and tradition. The result is a wonderfully elegant and complex wine, aged 18 months in new French oak. Best decanted.
