Wine Advocate called the 2013 Pol Roger a "beautifully chiseled, incisive wine", awarding it 94 points. It's a very fine fizz, thanks to top quality grapes and a long slow maturation on its lees. These lend sublime, complex aromas and creamy length.

The Wine
Founded in 1849 Pol Roger is generally regarded as one of the finest Champagne houses, renowned for wines of great finesse and style. Winston Churchill was a great ambassador for the brand and there's a special cuvée named after him. He was one of their most loyal customers, and even named a winning racehorse after Odette Pol-Roger, the wife of Jacques Pol-Roger, head of the firm. This top vintage Brut is made from 20 parcels of Grands and Premiers Crus grapes in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, and aged for seven years before release. No wonder it has so much depth and complexity. The long creamy mousse is said to be thanks to the depth of the ageing cellars. Superb ripe fruit, spice and elegant minerality. A classic.
