L'Épiphanie de Sauternes (half bottle) 2018
Sauternes AOC
Loading...
Very exciting, hush-hush parcel of Grand Cru Classé Sauternes, from an estate so fine it's name must remain a secret. A brilliant vintage too, which all adds up to gorgeous honeyed apricot and citrus fruit, with long, nutty complexity. For decades!
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
Our L'Epiphanie range is the result of buyer Jean-Marc Sauboua's terrific network of contacts. Whenever a top Bordeaux château – we're talking First Growth here – have a small cuvée that isn't quite up to inclusion in the Grand Vin, they give Jean-Marc a call. This sensational gem is from Sauternes, home of course to the world's finest sweet wines. This 2018 cuvée was ageing in new oak right until the last round of tasting, so very nearly made it into the final selection. Luckily for us, it didn't. Jean-Marc got a call and snapped it up at a sensible price. Sémillon with a zip of Sauvignon Blanc, all blessed with noble rot, it was picked berry by berry, then fermented and aged in new oak. Beautifully poised, it will continue to improve.
